While the administration has shifted from the hegemonic state trade policy to a great power trade policy, Trump began trade war against both China and major democratic alliances. Domestically, he broke a free trade consensus between the Whitehouse and the Republican Congress but he gets fragile support only through his twitter performance and the ideological backlash against elite-driven globalization.
