| 内容記述 | Thomas Mann’s last novel “Die Betrogene（ The Black Swan）” is considered retrospective, as it uses motifs from his homosexual relationships and previous works. But Bachofen’s theory of motherhood and Nietzsche’s Blonde Beast, which were critically treated as Nazi-like in his previous works, are associated with Goethe’s sympathy with nature and re-evaluated in this work. This novel marks a new direction in Mann’s works, reflecting his change of perspective on life, death and nature in his later years. | |||||||||||
